Eames Hang It All
Charles and Ray Eames designed the Hang it All in 1953 for Tigrett Enterprises Playhouse Division. It almost seems a shame to cover it up – it is more like a piece of sculpture. Believe it or not, it is only about $150 for this beautiful little piece of modern design history.

Modern Kids – Twin Bed Dilema Solved
Finding a simple kids twin bed that isn’t Ikea is not so easy. Cube Crash from duc duc is great. The frame is wood with a lacquered finish. There are optional head and sideboards that can turn the piece into a great little daybed. Used here with a corner table. These pieces can help you make the most of your child’s room.

Reclaimed Wood
A simple fallen log really isn’t… all that time and history wrapped up as only nature can. Though there are many options for green or sustainable furniture out there, not much is as appealing as the real thing. This piece, and others like it, are pieces of reclaimed wood , taken from the forest floor and repurposed as a small table or bench.

Paco Capdell Eboli Dining Chair
Borrowing from the past is nothing new – doing it well is always cause for celebration. Vicente Soto borrowed design elements from the 18th century to create Eboli Dining Chair for Paco Capdell, Spain. The oval back juxtaposed against the angular seat and arms creates a modern, geometric dining chair. At approximately 20″ wide and deep, Eboli is on the petite side, something I really love in a dining chair.

Kolorado Modern Outdoor – via Paris
How sleek are these? I especially love how the scuptural nature of the design plays out in the chaise. Kolorado by Mark Robson for the French company Sifas (sister company to Dedon). Available in black or white, a beautiful line from a company that has been making outdoor furniture since the 1960’s. Available state side at Interieurs New York.

Porada Italy has some of the sleekest looking butlers and coat hangers around. Their geometric forms make them stand-alone artworks. Add in the function on keeping you clothes neat and your room tidy and you’ve got a winning combination. In New York, you can find Porada furniture and accessories at Eurotrend on Broome. Porada has some really great looking tables, chairs and an awesome collection of mirrors that I will definitely post very soon.

La Z Boy as Shield
Hot off the press from Lafayette, Tennessee… a man named John Spencer weathered a tornado, sitting on his La Z Boy recliner. He reports that the wind started to pull him out of the trusty chair, but he refused to go, held on for dear life, and made it, La Z Boy and all. After hearing the story, La Z Boy provided John a gift certificate for $1000 to purchase a new recliner. Understandably, John considers the original recliner pretty lucky and will likely keep it. So if I were John, I think I’d go for the Carmen Leather Recliner from La Z Boy. Whether or not you embrace the recliner concept, this one looks pretty darn comfy. Its 54″wide, that is really big and there is extra padding on the arms, seat and wings.
